King Juan Carlos I of Spain Center of New York University

Inaugurated in 1997 by King Juan Carlos I of Spain and the then-First Lady Hilary Rodham Clinton, the KJC promotes research, teaching and dialogue about Spain and the Spanish-speaking world.  This brief informational video uses historical footage and an interview with the Center’s Associate Director, Laura Turégano, to give a sense of the range of activities undertaken by the KJC.

    Why King Juan Carlos I? What is his significance to the University? I would like to know a little more about him and his contributions not only to Spanish culture promotion in NYU but in his home country of Spain.
